Even Google begins layoffs [ November 20th, 2008 ] Posted in » Google

Even Google is not secure from the downturns on the economy. This week it announced the discontinuation of its virtual world service called Lively. Lively was launched with a lot of fanfare earlier this month, but quickly lost traction with the crowd. I personally only checked it out once. Google does give a reason for why it is shutting down the service on its own blog here. Here’s the gist of this reason:

Do you like beauty?

Contemplate the pictures that are shown in this post. These are wonders of nature, so beautiful that they are almost mesmerizing. I stumbled upon these pictures a while ago and decided that I HAD to share them on my blog.

But before the pictures, a little bit about the site I picked them up from. This is the homepage for Butterflies For Africa - a Butterfly house in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Here are the pretty pictures:

Links From today, I am going to start a series of postings called “Interesting Links”. I go through a lot of web sites on the Internet on a typical day and cannot write about all of them. So, for those that I cannot write about, I will start putting the links with short introductions as soon as I have 5-10 links collected.

These will typically be things which I would have liked to write about in detail if I had the time.
