Finding free photos on the Internet

There are many photography sites on the Internet which you can go to when you are looking for images that you need to use for your website, brochure, blog, or anywhere else. However, most of the sites are paid or have some kind of copyright assigned to the photographs. WebWorkerDaily covered some of these sites a while ago (and most of these are highly recommended by me as well). However, that is not the topic of this post. I want to talk about a website which offers thousands of good quality, completely free, photos.

ireland_39_bg_070505 It’s called PDPhoto (which stands for Public Domain Photo). This site is run by one guy who has put a large number of his photographs on the public domain free for all to use. And judging by the pictures themselves they are not bad at all. Take a look at the picture of St.Paul’s Cathedral (Photo courtesy PDPhoto.org); I think its a fairly nice photograph and I can use it in some professional work as well.

There are many such pictures on his site. The only request that he makes is that you just send a small link back to him when you use his work. He uses AdSense to monetize his site so that he can pay for the cost of running it.

Head over to browse his pictures to get an idea of the size of his catalogue and I am sure you will bookmark it for the future.
