Flickr adds video support with a twist

FlickrPhenomenally popular photo sharing site Flickr, today announced that they are going to allow video sharing for their pro users - normal users can view and comment of course, but only pro can upload. What’s the twist? Well read on:

The video feature has a limit of 90 seconds per uploaded video with a file limit per video of 150 MB. Personally I feel that this is a good thing. It will force uploaders into making every second count and should immensely improve the quality of the videos uploaded.

Flickr visualizes these videos as being long photos instead of true videos. For details on what Flickr thinks about this, visit their blog announcement and their FAQ on Videos.

Ob by the way, alongside this announcement they have also doubled the size of photos which users can upload to their existing Flickr accounts.
