Google has released its own browser [ September 3rd, 2008 ] Posted in » Google, News, Services and Tools

Just in case you are one of those people who only read this blog (hah), I would like to inform you that Google has released its own browser. And based on my initial testing, it is something that you have to go and get. There are bunch of new features that are available with the browser, and you can read all about them at the Google Chrome page.

For the (not so) artistic people out there

Picassohead2 Are you a big artist type, with art flowing through your veins? Well, this is not for you then. But are you someone who wished they could draw something sensible by putting pencil to paper, or brush to canvas? Then read on because this neat website may be able to whet your appetite a little.

Introducing Mr. Picassohead – a tool that will make Picasso’s out of us all (well, maybe not, but we can still try). This painting on the left was made using Mr. Picassohead. What Mr. P offers is a flash based editor which allows you to choose from a number of different shapes to paint with. It allows you to get as creative as you can get with a finite set of tools which offer an infinite set of combinations.

Some people have all the time in the world

Every time I something like what I am about to show you, I feel jealous. I wish I had the time, energy, money, inclination, courage, or whatever it takes to do something like this. Take a look at the video below.

His name is Matt and it took him 14 months to do this and it took him to more than 42 countries. Watch it completely, it is way too cool not to be seen completely.

Did you just receive a DOCX file?

imageWith the release of Office 2007, Microsoft introduced a new format for all it’s Office products. One such format is DOCX. And since not everyone has adopted the 2007 version, there is a mix of formats going on around the Internet and sooner or later you are bound to receive a DOCX file in your inbox. So what can you do with this file if you don’t have the program (Word 2007) to open it? As it turns out, there are loads of options that you have. In this post, I am going to list out some of these options.

Of course, the best option, if you just want to view the file, is to use the Word 2007 viewer from Microsoft. This allows you to open the DOCX file and view it. It is a free utility from Microsoft. Another option from Microsoft is available to you if you have an earlier version of Office installed (such as Office 2003). It is called the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack. This allows you to open, view, and edit Office 2007 documents in Office 2003 or Office XP. If you don’t like Microsoft, but still want to view the file that you have, there are other options, and I point out out 3 of these below:

Zinio Free Magazine Offer still Running

A few weeks ago, I had talked about the free offer for magazines from Zinio. This offer was valid for iPhone users (and everyone else using a very cool trick). For the longest time, the magazines on offer remained the same and some people feared that the offer is no longer valid because of over exploitation by people (using the above mentioned cool trick). I feared the same myself. However, I am one of those people who keep trying (also I had not read all the magazines yet). A few days ago, when I visited the site, I noticed that some of the magazines have changed (this included a brand new PentHouse, amongst others). So, if you have been disappointed at seeing the same magazines again and again, then you need to visit again.

Is this a challenger to TinyUrl?

bitlyThere are many URL Shortening services on the Internet, and TinyUrl is the best of them. There are some services available of course which offer niche features such as NSFW.in (which is useful for shortening NSFW URLs – the person opening the URL is aware that it will lead to a NSFW site); then again there are totally weird ones like ZombieURL. None of these of course come close to TinyUrl’s popularity. Maybe, there is one now. It’s called Bit.ly.
