Are you the type which likes to check their daily horoscope in the newspaper? I have a friend who really believes deeply in Astrology, and regularly goes to palmists, tea leaf readers, a host of astrologers, and so on. If you are such a person, this post is for you (of course, I am going to let her know about it as well).
Here’s something that will blow your mind away. Microsoft has recently released a software (and a service) which completely redefines the way you will enjoy your photos from now on. Have you ever felt that the picture you are capturing just doesn’t do justice to the scene you are witnessing? Have you been taking a lot of pictures and painstakingly stitching them together to create a panorama?
Well, that is exactly where this new service will help you. It’s called PhotoSynth. PhotoSynth lets you take loads of pictures of the scene that you are trying to capture and simply load it up in there desktop software. This software then looks through all the pictures and finds overlapping areas and then stitches them up automatically. But the story doesn’t end here.
If the answer for this question is yes, then you are in luck. Of course, you would need to have a lot of money. Emirates has announced that it has made available two shower Spas on board their A380 planes (of course there is some time before you see these giants in the air yet). This facility is available for first class passengers. Just like a real spa, you will need to make appointments ahead of time so that your spa session can be prepared by dedicated personnel.
Personally, I think this is whacky. Although, I also think that if I had the money, I would go for it. Incidentally, I wonder if this increases the price of the first class ticket. I mean carrying so much water has got to have its cost associated with it. FireFox has always been a browser for me. Sure, it’s got a a lot of nice plug-ins which extend it’s functionality, but more often than not these plug-ins are usually enhancing my browsing experience. That was until now. In the pat 3-4 days, I have come across two ‘add-ins’ which take this to a different level altogether. One of them is called S3Fox, which is an application that lets you manage your Amazon S3 account, but it’s not a stand alone application. The other one is the one this post is all about. It’s called Pencil.
When it comes to recording what is going on your screen, TechSmith is by far the leader – be it Screen Capture (through SnagIt) or Screen Recording (through Camtasia). However, these tools cost money. And since I am always trying to help people who don’t really need ALL the features of the paid software (only some) and don’t want to spend the money to pay for the software, I present two free alternatives to Camtasia (neither comes close to the feature set that Camtasia offers).
