Play secret agent over the Internet

Well, maybe not spy, but if you want to send out a secret message to someone, and you want it to self-destruct the moment it has been read, then you want to check out PrivNote. This is a neat little site, which lets you type out a note and post it, upon which you receive a Url. You can send this Url to any one person, and as soon as they open this Url, the note ceases to exist. It Self-Destructs – pretty much like how the messages delivered in Mission Impossible self destruct.

Although, I don’t see too many uses for a service like this in my daily life, but your daily life may be different. It’s great for sending a message where you are sure that the recipient and only the recipient has read the message. In case, someone else reads the message, you will get to know because then the original recipient will be unable to read the message (as it has already been destroyed).

You can optionally, also receive a notification the moment the message is read, and finally, if you don’t want the message to be read (you made a mistake in sending it), then you can simply read it yourself – now that can be a useful thing.

There could be one problem with this service. Suppose you are sending the link via email, and receiving person’s email scanner checks links inside email for any spams then the message might be destroyed before he read that :)

I am not sure that the email scanners check the actual content of the url embedded in an email. So the url won’t be visited by the scanner.

(they probably use a database, plus analyze the URL based on keywords, etc.)
