The Google Command Prompt

google shellFor me the search box on the Google home page (or my browser’s search box) has always been like a command prompt to the Internet. You can do calculations on it, you can check for the weather, the time, flight status, and a whole lot more from this little box. Someone, it seems took that thought too seriously and created a Google Shell (much like a Unix Shell). It’s called Goosh – the unofficial Google Shell.

It’s got a very nice feel to it (if you are used to working on command prompts that is). The image below shows what it looks like in the browser:

I can perform simple searches using commands such as web new tools to search for ‘new tools’ and it shows the results within the shell. I can choose to open the results using the result number (although that didn’t work in my Firefox).

It’s an awesome idea and will be appreciated by the geeky kind.
