Zemanta still not making bloggers happy
I reviewed Zemanta quite a while back as a very decent idea but with still a ways to go on proper implementation. Today I happened to read a review on one of my favorite sites, The Web Worker Daily. And their verdict is the same as mine. the images just don’t cut it yet.
To remind everyone, Zemanta installs as a browser plugin and adds a nifty little feature which suggests to you images and links for the post that you are typing based on what you are typing. An excellent idea, if it works.

What we usually recommend to people is that they should run Zemanta for a while, and after writing a few different posts they will get a hang of type of suggestions we are good at with their writing style. Then the whole experience gets better.
We are releasing a major upgrade in a few weeks and hopefully you’ll try us again then.

I wrote a FireFox extension that helps bloggers easily add links to their posts. It uses OpenCalais for semantic analysis and Google search for link suggestions.
It’s still alpha code, but I think it’s already useful and fun to use.
Check it out in kaalga.com
Would love to hear what you think.
Thanks, Amit.
